Payment of Overtime hours?

I work for a national company based in michigan. I signed an agreement with them that overtime hours will be paid at time and a half.
The company now wants to make us take time of in lieu after 40 hours rather than pay the overtime. is this legal

If you are an hourly employee and you work overtime then the company must pay you time and a half. The only way they dont have to is if you are a salaried employee.
